I am such a slacker, I haven't even gotten the kids pumpkins. Saige got one from her field trip but it's too small to carve. I should probably do that today. I'll probably end up having them color pumpkins with markers as opposed to me getting all slimy and gross trying to make a semi decent jack o lantern.

I have no kids at home, no Trick or Treaters and no incentive to decorate. I may or may not plug in my electric pumpkin on Saturday. I'm leaning towards NOT. It does look like we had a decent pumpkin harvest this year, though.

I love carving pumpkins...though I haven't done one this year and probably won't. I have to go out in the miserable cold around 10:30 and work on the harvester today..only a couple days to Halloween and I will be working them..I have to admit that carving pumpkins never crossed my mind this year.. I love to carve really cool designs too...nice job on that one by the way!

With our weather, we usually wait until the morning of Halloween to do the actual carving. They either rot from the heat or rot from the frost... or both. Kentucky weather at this time of the year sometimes has 40 or 50 degree temperature swings from one day to the next.

We went to the pumpkin farm last night to get ours. We actually had to go to two different farms. Zoe was supposed to go with her class but the trip was postponed due to bad weather and ended up being the day we were in Cincinnati. So we really wanted to go to a farm rather than just pick them up at Wal-mart. We went to a local place that we've been to several times but when we go there they were closed and we could see that they didn't have any pumpkins out in the fields like they usually do. They grow their own, rather than ship them in. So we drove to the next town over and went to a farm there. They had a ton of pumpkins in the fields, but it was funny because they hadn't actually grown them. There wasn't a pumpkin plant in sight. They'd just trucked them in and then spread them around so kids could feel like they were 'picking' them. And of course our kids didn't even notice.

We got three large ones, five or six of the smaller pie ones, and several little gourds and mini-pumpkins. I think the total was $24 and change. We also got a few hedge-apples. They didn't charge for those and probably thought we were nuts for wanting them. They aren't edible. But they look creepy!

We have wild weather this time of year too, for example right now it is 89 degrees and HUMID and windy. We are supposed to have a "cold" front, it will be 76 tomorrow...LOL

no pumpkins here this year or at least none worth carving...
We were growing our own and the water got shut off for a week near the garden and so the pumpkins stopped getting bigger. Of course no one told me because I would have carried a bucket to water them...instead I spent 4 weeks after that watering them daily hoping they would get bigger when it was my responsiblity to take care of them.

No carved pumpkins here. I do light a candle and place it in a small spook house ornament I have.

Geez, I was just looking at images of pumpkins to post on blog - with permission, edbson - could I use yours and credit your photo?
